PS4 S2 - Championship Sunday Preview

1. Vast Black Is Historically Great... But Don't Crown Them Just Yet.

Vast Black finished their season with an 8-1 record, and a 25-9 map count. Their one loss coming at the hands of Team Enhance in week one. Despite this, nobody really thought that they would steam roll right through the winners bracket. Their 9-1 map count entering the finals is the 4th best all time. In addition, KarizmaUs was named the MVP of the league this season after completely dominating his opposition, and it seems as if he has played even better in the playoffs. He has already accumulated the 4th and 5th most kills in a game in CACL history with 56 and 54, respectively. However, this does not mean that winning it all will be easy. Teams that have won 9 maps or more upon entering the Finals are a staggering 3-2 in the championship series. Even the statistically greatest team of all time failed to win the CACL Finals. Many may now think that Vast Black winning the championship is a forgone conclusion; history would say otherwise.

2. EvoLve eSports Has Weapons of Their Own.

Many may overlook EvoLve eSports due to Vast Black's dominance, but don't be fooled. EvoLve boasts two of the four finalists for MVP in Infected16670 and Weezyyy4, and as a team have been doing work in these playoffs. They are blowing out opponents by 158 points on average on Hardpoint, and will have to continue their dominance in order to advance. Despite their shortcomings in Uplink and at times S&D, EvoLve eSports has more than enough talent to win the finals.

3. InFiNITE Gaming Embraces Their Underdog Label.

Being the 6th seed, all of our staff had ruled out InFiNITE as every Finals matchup in our prediction brackets included Vast, EvoLve, and Enhance. The furthest anyone listed InFiNITE going in their bracket had them eliminated in losers round 2. However, as time has gone on, we've come to realize that InFiNITE Gaming must be taken seriously; especially with the excellence of IlJRoc in the playoffs. They are the only team to take a map from Vast Black, and have already swept EvoLve eSports, the team that they will be facing to advance to the Finals. If nothing else, just understand this: Do not doubt InFiNITE Gaming.
