The CodAmCompLeague had a busy opening night for its Winter 2020 Gold League. Three matches were played, and six teams began their quest to take home a piece of the $700 prize pool.
In the first match of the season, Division D teams faced off, as Fractured Memories (FM) defeated Flourished Essence (FE) 3-0, winning Hardpoint 250-113, Search and Destroy 6-3, and Domination 165-74. "Jackergod" was the top performer in the Hardpoint, dropping 29 kills, recording 1:17 of hill time, and six defends. The Search and Destroy was a closer contest, thanks to Flourished Essence's "Flash" and his heroic performance of 17 kills. This was only the seventh time in league history that a player recorded 17 or more kills in a Search and Destroy game. However, it wasn't enough, as four out of five members of the FM team recorded eight or more kills, while two players on the FE side recorded only one each. The first series of the season concluded after Flourished Essence was held below 75 points in Domination, and not one of its players reached 15 kills.
The second series of the night was between Grizzly and A7 Gaming of Division C. "Goatman" opened up the series with 31 kills for the Grizzly team, which won the Hardpoint 250-101. Grizzly dominated A7 in the Search and Destroy to win 6-2, as "Jake" recorded 10 kills, and "RaFF" pitched in eight. In the Domination game mode, the kills were there for A7, with "Gravity" dropping 32 "Chubby" adding 27, and "Godly" posting 22. However, Grizzly was simply on another level, as every member of the team posted at least 27 kills on route to recording 219 points and holding A7 to 131.
In the final series of the night, Hybrid Authority hosted Carnage Gaming for Division A's first match. As had been the theme all night, Hardpoint was not close, as "XENO" led the way for Carnage with 28 kills, while "Mataska" poured in 27 kills of his own to help his team win 250-121 over Hybrid Authority. XENO continued his stellar play into the Search and Destroy, dropping 12 kills to help his team secure the 6-1 victory. Then in Domination, the Carnage players were on fire, as four out of five members recorded 30 or more kills, including 39 from "Justify," which was the most by a player all night. Carnage Gaming completed the series sweep over Hybrid Authority after winning Domination 219-149.
As matches begin to be casted, expect more in-depth coverage of individual series and performances, rather than full-day recaps.
